About
Regular rhythm with a heart rate greater than 100 beats per minute.
Assess
> 100bpm; heart rate, chest pain, pressure, discomfort, palpitations, restless, anxious, difficulty in breathing, pulse oximetry
Complications
Injury, hypotension, congestive heart failure
Diagnosis
Decreased cardiac output related to abnormal heart rate or rhythm
Goals
The client will have a return of heart rate between 60 and 100 beats per minute.
Interventions
- Monitor for dizziness, syncope, chest pain.
- Monitor neurological status frequently.
- Administer pain medications prn as ordered.
- Administer medications ( antidysrhythmics, diuretics, antianginals, etc.) as indicated.
- Administer oxygen and monitor pulse oximetry.
- Teach the client to maintain a low sodium diet.
- Teach client about treatments, medications, and s/s to report to health care provider immediately.
- Monitor for signs/ symptoms of complications.
