About
Genetically inherited disorder causing abnormalities of several body components including bone, eyes, cardiac, and central nervous system.
Assess
Very tall with long hands and feet; mitral valve problems, visual difficulties; lateral curvature of the spine, skeletal abnormalities.
Complications
Cardiac problems- aortic rupture or aneurysm, mitral valve prolapse
Visual disturbances
Diagnosis
- Disturbed sensory perception related to visual disturbances associated with disease process
- Decreased cardiac output related to cardiac defects associated with disease
Goals
The client will remain free from injury.
Interventions
- Administer medications, including cardiovascular medications, as ordered to manage disease manifestations.
- Teach client about the disease.
- Encourage genetic counseling if planning to conceive a child.
- Teach client to continue close follow-up as indicated.
- Prepare for orthopedic surgery, if indicated.
- Monitor for signs/ symptoms of complications.
