About
Constriction of myocardium causing impairment in ventricular filling and the heart's ability to pump.
Assess
Shortness of breath, chest pain, dizziness, decrease in systolic blood pressure, tachycardia, erratic dissimilar QRS complexes

Diagnosis
- Decreased cardiac output related to impaired ventricular filling.
- Acute pain related to pressure on cardiac muscle.
- Impaired tissue perfusion related to inability for heart muscle to pump enough blood.
- Anxiety related to inability to breathe effectively.
Goals
- The client will remain free form injury and complications.
- The client will demonstrate effective coping with anxiety.
- The client will resume a normal sinus rhythm with vitals returned to normal.
Interventions
- Assess and monitor continuously vitals, pulse-oximetry, telemetry, pain levels.
- Prepare client for pericardiocentesis immediately.
- Explain all procedures to client and to try to alleviate fears.
- Teach client to report chest pain, sudden shortness of breath, dizziness or any other acute sudden changes in condition.
