About
Decreased amount of red blood cells due to the bone marrow not producing the cells.
Assess
Deficiency in rbc's, may also have a decrease in wbc's and/or platelets. Fatigue, weakness, pale.
Complications
Bleeding/ hemorrhage- monitor for other bleeding disorders.

Diagnosis
- Fatigue related to disease process
- Activity intolerance related to decreased oxygen supply to body tissues
- Anxiety related to knowledge deficit of disease process and treatment
Goals
- The client will be free from injury.
- The client will state three ways to conserve energy during acute exacerbation.
- The client will be able to identify treatments and rationale for use.
Interventions
- Monitor vital signs.
- Monitor client for bleeding, bruising. Monitor for exertional dyspnea.
- Encourage client to call for assistance when ambulating if feeling dizziness, lightheadedness, fatigued, lethargic, or short of breath.
- Encourage client to voice concerns regarding diagnosis.
- Encourage client to limit activities based upon physical cues that may indicate need for additional rest.
- Administer immunosuppressive therapies, or transfusions as ordered.
- Teach the client about medication therapy and other procedures used to manage disease.
- Notify physician of any abnormal bleeding, bruising, or significant change in Complete Blood Count.
- Monitor for signs/ symptoms of complications.
